Silca Strip Chip

Silca's Strip Chip removes the need for harsh cleaners before waxing a new chain. It’s food-safe and edible (except for the tungsten disulfide), but don’t eat it. Factory chain greases from Shimano, SRAM, and KMC are not great lubricants—they’re just for rust prevention and repel chain wax. Strip Chip binds with factory grease, changing its chemical composition to mix with chain wax, allowing for deeper lubrication.

Developed with Purdue University, Strip Chip is available in chocolate bar-like form with 6 pieces (12g each). Use it only on new chains to avoid chemical reactions with lubricating wax. A 500g wax bag can treat 40-50 chains using 6 Strip Chips.

Directions:

1. Add a Strip Chip to hot wax (125°C).
2. Submerge chain and agitate for 30 seconds.
3. Soak for 10 minutes, then agitate lightly.
4. Set wax temperature to 75°C.
5. Remove chain, hang to dry.
6. Reuse wax for future waxings.
